March 25, 2019

What You Need to Know

We are very excited for Dreamville Festival this weekend! Please know that City of Raleigh and festival production team are working together to make this an excellent experience for all. We are keeping the safety of attendees and community members, along with protection of our park property, top of mind.

The Dreamville Festival is a one-day, now 40,000-person music and culture festival taking place at Dorothea Dix Park on Saturday, April 6. To create the infrastructure for such a large event, the festival organizers will begin construction on the festival site Friday, March 29.

Beginning the week of March 25th park visitors, neighbors and campus employees will begin to experience some disruptions around the park. Construction will be taking place on the Big Field and Williams Field only, however, increased traffic accompanied by large equipment throughout Dix Park is to be expected in advance. Road closures will also be in affect beginning April 1st. Please see details and map below for more information.

Please Be Aware:

The Dreamville Festival will be the first event of its kind – a multi-stage music event from J. Cole, who himself was raised in nearby Fayetteville, North Carolina. The intent of the festival is for J. Cole to give back to his home state, which helped shape him as an artist, by holding a one-of-a-kind celebration of local culture, food and art featuring a curated selection of music performers blending together some of today’s biggest national acts with exciting up-and-comers.
