Dog Park Opens at Dix Park

April 25, 2019

People and their dogs at Dix Park's new Dog Park

Raleigh, NC – Your dog's favorite event is back with some exciting news! On Saturday, April 27 at Pop-PupAlooza dogs will be allowed off leash at Dorothea Dix park’s 4-acre pop-up dog park to run and romp to their heart's content. Pulse FM will be providing tunes and pup parents will have the opportunity to win some fun pet-themed raffle prizes throughout the afternoon. There will be plenty to enjoy for dogs and their owners including pet-centric vendors, pet adoption, food trucks and local craft beer.

Spring Pop-PupAlooza is also the kick-off party for the new Dix Park Dog Park. We heard from many community members that they desired a place to let their dogs run free while at the park, so beginning Monday, April 29, 2019 the former athletic field transforms into a temporary dog park, open to the public seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.

This facility will provide a much needed off-leash dog area for park visitors, with all other areas of Dix Park requiring dogs to be on-leash. To ensure that the field and fencing remains in good condition we will close the dog park the last week of each month for routine maintenance.
