Forest Bathing

Connect with nature through the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.

In Japan, forest walks, known as shinrin-yoku , ‘bathing in the forest atmosphere’, are a key aspect of preventative health care.

Join us for a talk and walk exploring the history and research behind forest bathing and benefits for human health while experiencing a guided forest bathing walk along Dix Park’s Pine Loop Trail. The actual walking portion is less than .3 miles and will start and end at the Flower Cottage.

About your guide:
Jane Saiers is a certified forest therapy guide and a registered horticultural therapist. She and her husband Darin Knapp own and operate RambleRill Farm in Hillsborough, where they grow certified organic fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms; raise laying hens and Nigerian dwarf goats; and offer nature-based education and experiences. They believe that everyone can be healthier and happier by spending daily time connecting with nature.

This program is free to the public thanks to Dix Park Conservancy donors.

Location: Meet at the Flower Cottage. Walk the Pine Loop Trail.
