Dix Park is the perfect location to host your next event. The park offers both indoor and outdoor venues that can accommodate a variety of events, including weddings, family reunions, performances and corporate events. Outdoor venues include shaded picnic areas, hillsides with views of the Raleigh skyline and wide-open fields. Indoor venues are currently limited to the Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel.
How to apply for a rental
Renting a space at Dix Park is easy! Follow the steps below to submit your rental request.
Please note: Rental requests may be submitted up to one year in advance and must be submitted at least 14 days before your requested rental date. We encourage you to apply as early as possible, especially for weekends and other popular dates. Submission of a rental application does not reserve your requested date or guarantee approval.
Step 1: Explore Our Rental Locations
Browse the rental locations below to find the space that best fits your rental needs. Each listing includes photos, amenities, pricing, capacity, and a description of the space.
We encourage you to visit the park during regular park hours to view outdoor rental locations in person. If you are interested in renting The Chapel, you may request a tour appointment with staff or explore the space using our virtual tour.
Step 2: Submit Your Rental Application
Once you've selected your preferred location, click the ‘Apply Here’ button to access RecLink. You'll need to create a RecLink account or sign in to an existing account before submitting your rental application. Use the filters to select your desired rental location and date before submitting your request.
Applying lets our team know you're interested in renting a space, but it does not reserve the location or guarantee approval.

Step 3: Application Review
After your application is submitted, Dix Park Rental Staff will review your request and may contact you using the email address associated with your RecLink account if additional information is needed.
During this review, our team will determine whether your request can be accommodated based on park availability, operational considerations, and City of Raleigh policies. Rental requests are reviewed individually and approval is not guaranteed. Dix Park rental requests are reviewed and processed Monday – Friday during business hours.
Step 4: Finalize Your Reservation
If your rental request is approved, our team will work with you to finalize the reservation. You'll receive:
- A Dix Park site-specific Rules and Guidelines document for review and signature
- An invoice with payment instructions
Signed documents and payment are due within 7 days of receipt. Once all required documents have been completed and payment has been received, your rental will be officially confirmed.

The Chapel

Overlooking downtown Raleigh, the historic Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel is framed by a rectangular Event Lawn, concrete front terrace, and idyllic Healing Garden. Originally constructed in 1955 and renovated in 2020, the Chapel preserves much of its mid-century modern architecture and understated charm. Notable features include original stained-glass windows, terrazzo floors, silver-leaf mural, upstairs lounge, and interior balcony.
The Main Hall accommodates approximately 200 Guests (seated at tables), 400 Guests (seated without tables), 450 Guests (standing).

Event Lawn at The Chapel

The Chapel at Dix Park features an Event Lawn that may be reserved for outdoor gatherings and events independent of renting the indoor Chapel venue. The Event Lawn is a rectangle grass lawn surrounded by flowerbeds, shade trees, a brick seating wall, and concrete pathways.

3,200 square feet. Will accommodate tents up to 40’ x 40’ (not provided by venue).

Shaded Picnic Areas

Magnolia Room and Oak Room are Dix Park’s two reservable picnic and play areas with shaded seating that are perfect for birthday parties and social gatherings.
Please note: Rental includes shaded picnic area and grill. The shade structure does not provide coverage from rain. Swings and benches may not be reserved and are expected to be shared with park visitors.

Outdoor Classroom

The Outdoor Classroom is an inviting and versatile space located at the Stone House Visitor Center. This thoughtfully designed area is equipped with patio furniture and built-in amphitheater style seating, perfect for small gatherings. This space offers a stunning view of rolling hills and is adjacent to the ATTUN art sculpture, adding a touch of artistic charm to your event. Enjoy the convenience of nearby parking, permanent restrooms, and accessible pathways.
Note: The Stone Houses Visitor Center is open to the public on Saturdays & Sundays 11am – 5pm. Public restrooms are open 8am – 8pm daily.

Frequently Asked Questions
Rentals are not available at Gipson Play Plaza. The picnic areas at Oak Room and Magnolia Room are available for reservations.
All outdoor spaces at Dix Park are open to the public from dawn until dusk 7 days-a-week. Spaces are available for use on a first come, first serve basis for small gatherings, picnics and non-commercial events.
A Dix Park event rental and/or permit is required if any of the following is true:
- Reserved space is desired for your event
- You want to set-up tents or event rentals, use generators, rent temporary restrooms, etc.
- Alcohol would be served
- Your event is commercial in nature (cost to attend, etc.)
- Your outdoor event would have over 200 participants
Rental requests must be submitted at least 14 days in advance of your desired rental date.
Dix Park event rentals are managed by Staff with City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department.
