Enjoy Dix Park!
- Dix Park is open from dawn until dusk, seven days a week. Facility hours vary.
- On weekdays, visitors should only use public parking areas.
- Dogs must be kept on-leash unless inside the Dog Park.
- Keep the park clean and green – dispose of all trash or take it with you.
Please Be Mindful
- Over 900 people are buried at the historic hospital cemetery – please be respectful.
- NC DHHS administrative headquarters are located on park grounds.
- On weekdays 6am – 5pm, do not park in spaces labeled NC DHHS Parking Only.
- On weekdays after 5pm and weekends, all lots are available for public parking.
Drones & Model Rockets
- Drones may take off and land in the Big Field only
- Model rocketry is permitted on the Big Field only
Operators must follow all FAA Part 107 and Raleigh Parks rules including:
- Operators may not fly over people per City of Raleigh Parks and FAA rules
- Only fly within line-of-sight
- Do not fly more than 400 feet above ground level
- Only operate drones under 55 lbs.
- Never fly near other aircrafts
- Do not disrupt or harass wildlife or park visitors

Professional Photography
Professional photographers are welcome to have photo shoots/sessions with clients at Dix Park, however, a Raleigh Parks commercial photography permit is required. This is a one year permit and covers all City of Raleigh Parks. To apply for the permit, please contact Jennie Saponaro at 919-996-4905 or jennie.saponaro@raleighnc.gov.
Commercial filming must be coordinated with Dix Park Staff. Contact us at events@dixpark.org to discuss your commercial filming project.
Park Rules Prohibit
- Weapons of any kind
- Off-leash dogs & not properly disposing of dog waste
- Pets on playgrounds or in water play areas.
- Littering
- Alcohol use, except by permit
- Smoking & vaping
- Open flames, except in provided grills
- Fireworks
- Camping
- Drug use
- Commercial activity, except by permit
- Disturbing plants & wildlife
- Digging, excavating or removing park property
