Introducing the Dix Park Commission and Stewardship Committee
The City of Raleigh and Dix Park Conservancy have established two new governance groups to support the continued planning, development, and stewardship of Dix Park. Through the park's public-private partnership, the Dix Park Commission and Stewardship Committee officially began their work with inaugural meetings held in July 2026.
The new groups represent the next evolution of Dix Park's collaborative governance model. The Dix Park Commission succeeds the former Leadership Committee, while the Stewardship Committee combines the work of the previous Community Committee and Legacy Committee.
Dix Park Commission
The Dix Park Commission provides oversight and approval of matters related to Dix Park policy and development while making recommendations to the Raleigh City Council. The Commission is supported by staff from both the City of Raleigh and Dix Park Conservancy.
The Commission is comprised of eleven appointed voting members and meets in person at the Chapel on the fourth Tuesday of each month, with adjustments made for holidays.
Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee advises the Dix Park Commission on implementation of the Dix Park Master Plan and related projects while helping steward community engagement efforts. Committee members serve as community representatives, ambassadors, and partners in shaping the future of Dix Park by providing diverse perspectives and fostering ongoing public involvement.
A Continued Commitment to Partnership
Since the City of Raleigh acquired the Dix Park property in 2015, the partnership between the City and Dix Park Conservancy has guided the park's transformation through thoughtful planning, community engagement, and shared stewardship. The new governance structure strengthens that partnership and provides a clear framework for decision making, community input, and implementation as Dix Park continues to evolve into Raleigh's premier urban park.
