Rocky Branch Enhancement
Restoration of the Rocky Branch along the edge of Dix Park has numerous environmental and social benefits. A restored Rocky Branch and repurposed landfill will create a destination within Dix Park that will serve local and regional visitors by providing environmental, recreational, educational, and social benefits. Learn more at the link below.
Accessibility Improvements Update
A collection of ADA and accessibility improvements have been designed to make some of the park's most used areas safer and more welcoming. Seen above, the first of these improvements, an accessible pathway for events, debuted this past summer. Learn more about the other improvements to be constructed in the update linked below.

Getting to Dix Park
There are multiple entrances to Dorothea Dix Park. The most widely used entrances are Hunt Drive at Western Boulevard, South Boylan Avenue at Western Boulevard, Umstead Drive at Lake Wheeler Road, and Goode Street at Lake Wheeler Road. Because this is an active staff campus for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for the next few years, parking at Dorothea Dix Park is limited during business hours. On weekends, visitors may park in any of the parking areas striped green.
Hours

At the Dog Park dogs can run and play off-leash. Dogs must be on-leash in all other areas of Dix Park.
