Genealogy: Your Family History Starts Here
Explore census records and more using HeritageQuest!
Event Details
Join librarians from the State Library of North Carolina Government & Heritage Library for a two-hour workshop where we will take a deep dive into using the U.S. Census in HeritageQuest. Presenters will demonstrate how Census records can show much more than names, ages, places, and dates. Participants will leave with an understanding of how the Census can be used in family history research and how its history impacts research along with valuable skills for using the Census in their own research. We’ll conclude with a tour of other records and resources available in HeritageQuest.
HeritageQuest Online provides access to a wealth of valuable records and resources for family history research, including the U.S. Census from 1790 to 1950. HeritageQuest also includes access to a collection of family history books, will and probate records, city directories, Freedman’s Bank records, and a selection of other public records.
This will be a hands-on workshop with guided practice with support from presenters.
